President Akıncı: “There is a serious potential in health tourism in TRNC”

President Mustafa Akıncı received Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, who was elected as Vice President of the World Health Tourism Council, and the accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, Akıncı congratulated Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, who was elected as Vice President of the World Health Tourism Council, and underlined that tourism is one of the most vital sectors for the country's economy and that health tourism is one of the important elements of the tourism sector.

Noting that there is a serious potential in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in this field, President Akıncı pointed out that this potential should be utilized.

Stating that the Ministries of Tourism and Health should work in coordination for this, President Mustafa Akıncı expressed that as the Presidency, they are ready to provide all kinds of support for the utilization of the existing potential in health tourism.

Savaşan talked about the activities in 57 member countries

GHTC Vice President Dr. Ahmet Savaşan informed President Akıncı about the activities carried out by the Global Healthcare Travel Council (GHTC) in the international arena and explained the activities carried out on behalf of the TRNC in 57 member countries.

Ahmet Savaşan also informed President Akıncı about the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus' initiatives before Greece, which resulted in the resignation of the Greek Secretary General of the GHTC, and asked for support for Health Tourism to become a State policy in the TRNC.

During the meeting, Savaşan also provided information about the projects that the Northern Cyprus Health Tourism Council will realize in 2018 and 19 and thanked President Akıncı for his support for the development of Health Tourism.

During the meeting, board members Fethi Özboğaç, President of the Cyprus Turkish Hoteliers Association, Dr. Remzi Gardiyanoğlu, President of the Cyprus Turkish Association of Independent Physicians, Faiz Camgöz, Founding Member of the Cyprus Business People Investors and Economy Association, Assoc. Dr. Savaş Özyiğit, Director of the Cyprus IVF Center and Lawyer Özkul Özyiğit also took part.
